                                Summary

           Sonnet composing first Started in Renaissance Italy . It is started through the hand of Wyatt and Surrey . Inspired by them , English poets brought this new form and style to the their soil . Sir Philip Sidney was one of the pioneers to compose sonnet-series . He wrote the sonnet-series ' Astrophel and Stella ' , which consists 108 Sonnet and 11 songs . In this sonnet-series , he dramatizes his love for his beloved , Penelope Devereaux . Here the title also refers to this love couple , "Astrophel" means star , that is the poet and "Stella" means star lover , it is ofcourse the poet's beloved , better to say ex-beloved . 'Loving in truth' is the first sonnet of this sonnet-series .

           In 'Loving in truth' , he expresses how he tries to compose verse for his beloved and the problems which he faced at that time . He loves Penelope Devereaux but she married someone else . The poet tries to win the favor by composing verse to her . So he schools himself by reading books of Masters "to paint the blackest face woe" with "fit words" .

           "But words came halting forth , wanting Invention's stay ;
             Invention , Nature's child , fled step-dame Stuy's blows ;"

           When Sidney tries to compose poetry , the borrowing words and expressions are not coming fluently and the expressions become degressive and abrupt . The poet dissatisfy with his compositions . Like a woman feels pain at the time of giving birth of a child , same pain feels  the poet when he tries to produce poetry . When he becomes desperate , the "Muse" come and  advice him :

       "Fool" , said my Muse to me , "look in thy heart , and write !" "

           Sidney was among those poets who tried to change the traditional Italian sonnet structure and brought the new form which differs him from other sonnet composers . He use the hexameter lines in the place of traditional pentameter lines . The language of this sonnet is really very simple , as always Sidney known for his simplicity of language . It also has universal tone , in the concluding line the poet tells about the birth of a poetry . True poetry doesn't come from other's expressions , it comes from the bottom of a poet's heart . The poem is a meta-poem by all means . Charles Lamb correctly observes that the best sonnets of Sir Philip Sidney are among the best of the language .
